Good judgment comes from experience, most of which directly results from bad judgment.
I know it has been a while since you have heard from me, and I must say it has been nice to hear from a few of you who wonder what I’m doing.
Mostly, I am preparing for a bone marrow transplant, including several screening tests and, my favorite, the bone marrow biopsy. Now, I am waiting to hear when I am expected to check into the hospital.
I spend a lot of time wondering what is happening with our current generation of students. Their world is upside down from mine, and I need to say that I am very concerned and honestly frightened about their undisguised hatred of Jews.
It is easy to think that their teachers and professors are indoctrinating them. But where have these educators come to the conclusions that they are espousing? What has happened to research and logic that used to be taught in schools? Philosophy, biology, math, law, the Dewey Decimal System, and how to diagram a sentence?
I believe this “Wonderland” began with Barack Obama and his wife.
Remember, ‘for the first time in my life, I can feel proud of my country?’
Here are a couple of Marxist-leaning quotes from Mr. Obama.
“If you got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
On the subject of redistribution, his quote is as follows. “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times… and then just expect that every other country is going to say OK.” (This quote is directly from Mr. Obama, and I have not corrected the grammatical errors as that would change a direct quote.)
I also offer that Mr. Obama moved to separate and divide Americans through a campaign of equity and social justice. He focused on systemic inequities and promoting social justice. But his emphasis was on equity, and he overlooked and undervalued equality.
Equality is the idea of treating everyone equally and ensuring equal access to the same opportunities and resources.
Equity recognizes that people have different needs and circumstances. Equity addresses disadvantages and provides extra assistance to those marginalized or who have faced barriers to success.
Allowing equity for those deemed harmed must be discontinued when brought to the ideal level of equality. At that point, it is up to the individual to take advantage of the given opportunity. At that point, it is not a further swing to advantage those lacking equity beyond that of equality. The Supreme Court twice decided this.
We must stop Marxists and Socialists from teaching our children. It is a long road of repair, but it must begin at some point.
Homeschooling and Charter schools are a start, but this only represents a small fraction of our children. A good start would be eliminating the Department of Education and reverting to education standards and curricula being determined and developed at the State level.
Finally, if you want to know where the nation’s strength lies, then I suggest you watch the Army-Navy football game this weekend. These are the young people I put my faith in leading our nation.
And for but a few hours, I say, Go Navy! Beat Army!
